CHATSWORTH, CA -- MRV Communications (Nasdaq: MRV) announced an agreement to acquire Fiberxon, Inc., a supplier of transceivers for Metro, Access and PON applications, for a total price of $131 million. MRV is a provider of networking equipment and services, including optical components. It intends to combine Fiberxon with its Luminent subsidiary, which makes Metro transceivers and for fiber-to-the-premise deployments. Shareholders of Fiberxon will receive a combination of cash and stock, and the transaction is scheduled to close in the first half of 2007.
